Description

Suchomimus is a big spinosaurid discovered in western Africa in deposits from the Aptian stage of lower Cretaceous. This fascinating dinosaur is classified within Baryonychinae, so it's phylogenetically closer to Baryonyx than Spinosaurus. P. Sereno also proposed to unify Suchomimus and Baryonyx under the same genus, but this option was later discarded because of many autapomorphies. Despite being an interesting and quite popular dinosaur, Suchomimus still has only a preliminary description, and lacks a proper osteological monograph.
In this reconstruction I included dimorphic lips and a layer of filaments on the back. Thinking about this animal as an amphibious forager that spent a lot of time under direct sunlight, those filaments would be a reasonable protection from insolation. The feet are thought to be webbed, but the actual webbing is not visible in this pose. An other interesting speculative feature is a very little skin expansion at the end of the tail, similar to some vintage mosasaurs' tail flukes.

Looks nice and very detailed. I still believe that it and other spinsoaurids where short-legged quadrupeds in the like song Spinsoaurus though
